Length: approx. 3 mins.
The Happy Hopper is shown on the cover of the original sheet music to be a high-stepping pipe-smoking gap-toothed gentleman in late Victorian dress with all the appearance of thoroughly enjoying himself. The two step itself is equally thoroughly enjoyable and has a AABBACC form with a 4-bar introduction whereby the A-, B- and C-strains are written in the keys of C, G and F respectively. In this adaptation for recorder quintet the melodies are shared by the treble and 1st tenor voices.
Happy Hopper was published by Carl Hoffman Music Co, Kansas City, Missouri, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
