Calla Lily is what Trebor Jay Tichenor describes as a composition of the legato classic-rag style. It is indeed a splendid rag which lends itself very well to transcription for a recorder quintet. The melodies are shared by the by the treble and 1st tenor whilst the rhythm section has plenty of "dialogue" with the upper voices as well as solo passages.
Calla Lily was published by Stark Music Co, St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
