The live wires in question are shown on the cover of the original sheet music to be a pair of clowns in the process of being delivered an excruciating electric shock. The rag itself is anything but excruciating and may it be said that Live Wires Rag is an electrifying and
lively composition. Its form is AABBCCA with a 4-bar introduction whereby the AB- and C-strains are written in the major keys of F and Bb.
As an adaptation for recorder quintet, this is a treble's delight the lucky performer having the melodies from start to finish.
Live Wires Rag was published by Harold Rossiter Music Co., Chicago, Illinois, USA.
A tempo of 150 crotchets/min. is suggested.
This adaptaion is respectfully dedicated to those live wires Bobby Avis, Roger Backhouse and all other former 984/CDS maintainers especially those who served on HMS Victorious and HMS Hermes.
