Length: approx. 5¼ mins.
Heart's Longing is a fine free-flowing romantic waltz spiced with delicate touches of syncopation. It has three waltz melodies and written in the sonata form of AABBACCBA with a 4-bar introduction and a 4-bar interlude between the A- and C-strains whereby the AABBA-, CCB- and final A-strain are written in the major keys of G, C and G respectively. In this adaptation for recorder sextet, the 1st tenor has most of the melodies whilst the descant is used mostly for grace notes in addition to alternating to tenor to flesh out chords. A great ensemble piece which just begs to be danced to!
Heart's Longing was published by Stark Music Co, St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
A tempo of 150 crotchets/min. is suggested.
