is a descant's delight! Its form is AABBACB with a 4-bar introduction and a 4-bar interlude between the C- and B-strains. A happy whistling affair which charmingly tootles along. The descant has all the running but is joined in the C-strain by the treble for 16 repeated bars of close harmony - a beautiful touch. All-in-all an apt ragtime tribute celebrating the Sunshine State.
In its time it was very popular and was recorded as a banjo solo by Vess Ossman in 1907 by both Victor and Columbia. Later recordings were made by Fred Van Eps for Pathe and by his Trio for Victor in 1912.
