Length: approx. 3 mins. Sounds best if 1st tenor is doubled.
Red Pepper is indeed a spicy rag well in keeping with the jolly red peppers a-cakewalking as illustrated on the front cover of the original sheet music. The treble and 1st tenor will especially enjoy the burbling semiquaver (sixteenth-note if you prefer) runs which garnish this composition. Its form is AABBACCDD in the major keys of C and F, a real fun piece that may well performed along with other such prickly delights such as
Imogene Giles's Red Peppers (1907) DBE 720 and
Adaline Shepherd's Pickles & Peppers (1906) DBE 381.

A tempo of 90 crotchets/min. is suggested.
