According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, Cyril [Meir] Scott was an English composer who trained mainly in Germany and won considerable success there and in England up to about 1930 - particularly with songs and piano pieces; nicknamed the "English Debussy". Also composed three operas (only one produced in Germany); piano concertos and various other concertos; choral works; two string trios and other chamber music. Writer on music and also on occultism, food reform, etc.
