Frederick The Great  (1712-1786)

According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, Frederick the Great, King of Prussia, was an amateur flutist and composer - especially of music with prominent flute parts. While Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, was in his service, Johann Sebastian Bach visited him in 1747 and later dedicated to him "The Musical Offering".
