Fryderyk F. Chopin  (1810-1849)

According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin was a Polish composer and pianist of partly French descent. Born at Zelazowa Wola, near Warsaw; studied in Warsaw; settled in Paris, touring from there (e.g. to England and Scotland). Never revisited Poland (under Russian occupation) but was a keen patriot and student of Polish literature. Never married; met "George sand" (real name Aurore Dudevant) 1838, and lived with her till 1847; suffered from consumption, gave his last public concert in1848, and died in Paris.
