p_barretttw.jpgAccording to the Internet source given below, Thomas William Barrett was an English music hall comedian and singer born in Birmingham.
Popular at the end of the nineteenth century, he is credited with being the first comic entertainer to perform in a deadpan manner, standing completely still and without a smile.
His portrait on the left is taken from his I've Been and Got Married to Day (?) published by Francis Brothers & Day, London, England.
He died in Liverpool.
