Carl Friedrich Abel  (1723-1787)

According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, Carl Friedrich Abel was a German player of the bass viol (also of the harpsichord) and composer of chamber music, symphonies etc. Trained in boyhood under Johann Sebastian Bach; settled in London (where he died) and gave concerts there with J.C. Bach.
