Lesser-known carols, French 'noel' carols and medieval English/Latin selections including "In the Bleak Midwinter," "What Is This Fragrance (Quelle est c'est Odeur)," "Dixonent Hodie" and "Patapan." Less scholarly and complete than the "Oxford Book of Carols" which covers similar material. The Faber book is distinquished by Roseberry's tasteful, moderately-difficult arrangements, which avoid cliche and are often stunningly beautiful. Very satisfying for singing around the piano when you're weary of "Jingle Bells" and "Silent Night."
