There is a Lady sweet and kind is a beautiful
Peter Warlock arrangement of Thomas Ford's poem taken from
Musicke of Sundrie Kindes (1607) and may be found in
Warlock Songs
For me there was a most memorable performance of this song when
Dr. Rosteck and I at an
International Chamber Recital with Lynne Priest Fitzpatrick (flute) and Louis Ignatious Gall (guitar) in the Begegnungsstätte Schwanewede in June 2005. In honour of Lynne, we added an extra verse which went thus:
Lynne Priest Fitzpatrick is her name. I did but see her passing by,
And yet I love her all the same, Her gesture, motion and her smiles.
Her flute her recorder my ear beguiles,
Beguiles my ear, I do know why, And I will love her till I die.
Cupid is wingéd, and doth range, Maryland so my love doth change:
But change the earth or change the sky.
Yes I will love her till I die.
