The Rising of the Moon
Last updated: 11.10.23
Surprisingly I didn't learn "The rising of the moon" from The Clancy Brothers or the The Dubliners but from Bernd Gerken whilst we were both members of the "Klingende Runde für jung und alt", in Schwanewede, Lower Saxony. We also sang it a lot in the Idle Fellows. It's a rousing rebel song about an incident which I assume, you can't tell directly from the lyrics, took place in the momentous year of 1798.
