 The Last Rose of Summer

I have known "The Last Rose of Summer" from childhood, as it was not in the Grainger family repertoire I most likely first heard it from the throat of Kenneth MeKellar on steam radio in the days of yore. The version I sing can be found in Andrew Gant's Folk Songs of the British Isles the lyrics being from the pen of Thomas Moore in his Irish Melodies (1807).
I sing this beautiful, slow song extremely rarely in public and mostly in privacy for my own enjoyment when in a sentimental mood.
