I've always known the tune from childhood but only learned the song relatively recently from Soodlum's 100 Irish Ballads Volume 2. It is a little melancholic and I take it nice and easy, being suited to my present situation, that of being somewhat senile and looking back on a happy youth and days of yore. It reminds very gently how soon youth passes.
