There were three jolly Scotsmen
Last updated: 22.01.22
This is another of my mother's short ditties which can be found in A Mum's (Mostly Musical) Memories. What three Scotsmen should be doing hunting on St. David's Day, the Welsh national holiday, is anybody's guess. That's folk music folks! And that's the way Peggy Grainger sings it!
There were three jolly Scotsmen, as I have heard men say.
And they would go a-hunting upon St. David's Day.
And a-hunting they did go.

The first they saw it was the moon, the second he said, "Nay!".
The third he said it was a house with the chimney blown away.
And a-hunting they did go.
