Jillian of Berry
Last updated: 11.10.23
According to The Choral music of Peter Warlock Vol. 1, Jillian of Berry was originally a poem that was quoted in Francis Beaumont (1564-1616) and John Fletcher (1579-1625) 's The Knight of the Burning Pestle (1610) but is generally considered to be older than the play. Peter Warlock set this piece in 1926. The song itself extols the virtues of Jillian, a landlady who lives on a hill and sells beers and ales.

This song is included in We're Only Here For The Beer! - Light by Dr. Rosteck and myself.
