Big River, written by Jimmy Nail rose to No.18 in the UK singles chart in 1995. The optimistic tenor of the song is that despite the loss of the shipbuilding and mining industries the Coaly Tyne will rise again.
This song may be found in the Tyneside Maritime Chorus songbook but not yet in my personal repertoire
