I first heard "Aber Heidschi Bumbeidschi", a Tyrolian folk song, sung by the King's Singers on their LP "Die King's Singers singen deutsche Volkslieder". In Germany this song is for many people part of the Christmas scene and is often indeed regarded as a Xmas song. Believe me, this song can be heard in every supermarket throughout the land! Probably every German entertainer has it in his or her repertoire. An Englishman, I am never asked to sing it!
It is very difficult for a humble (really?) folk singer such as myself to take on the King's Singers so you won't be surprised to learn, dear surfer, that I do a particularly lousy job of it. I do love however playing the chords given in the version found in Lieder, Songs und Gospels 2 and it is a wonderful piece for the concertina which allows me to redeem myself just a little.
