Saskia Coolen is a Dutch recorder player and a member of Brisk Recorder Consort. She studied at the Sweelinck Conservatory Amsterdam with Walter van Hauwe, Kees Boeke and Marijke Miessen as well as taking master-classes with Frans Brüggen and Harry Sparnaay.
She has performed with and/or was a member of a number of ensembles including La Fontegara, Camerata Trajectina, Taverner Players, the orchestra of the Nederlandse Bachvereniging, the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Gabrieli Consort, Tragicomedia, the King's Consort and many other.
She founded Ensemble Senario in 1994 a group which focuses on Baroque chamber music in which the recorder is featured as a major instrument. Saskia Coolen gives courses and master-classes throughout Europe and America, and she teaches at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
