Banana Peel Rag is a fine, merry, melodious and tootling composition which Winkler inscribed to Mrs. Gus Winkler. It has the sonata form of AABACCA with a 4-bar introduction and a 4-bar interlude between the A- and CC-strains whereby the AB- and C-strains are in the major keys of C and F respectively. The treble player especially will delight in this adaptation for recorder ensemble. He or she has the mellifluous melodies from start to finish whereby the whole range of the instrument is explored. There is definitely a slippery feel about this rag and slurs abound - all in keeping with the subtitle.
Banana Peel Rag was published by F.J.A. Forster Music Publisher, Chicago, Illinois, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
There is also a treble solo version of this item.
