Noodles merrily explores the German Ach du lieber Augenstein to good effect. Its form is AABBACDCD with a 4-bar introduction and a 4-bar interlude between the A- and C strains whereby the AABBA- and CDCD- strains are in the major keys of G and C respectively. The heavy use of basses produces a happy "umpah" sound to accompany the tinkling, very ragged melodies. As with a similar piece, Fun-Bob (1907), a happy smiling infant graces the cover of the original sheet music.
Noodles was published by Arnett-Delonais Co., Chicago, Illinois, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
There is also a quintet version of this item.
