Length: approx. 2¾ mins.
Auto Race is another bright and breezy Wenrich march with distinctive strains and charming simplicity, not only just right for beginner ensembles but also for advanced groups to present light contrasts. Its form is AABBCCDD with a 4-bar introduction and an 2-bar passage between the BB and CC sections. This piece is a bass player's delight not only having some pretty "walking" passages but also the melody in CC section.
In making this recorder adaptation, the editor gratefully acknowledges Leonard Kaufer, collector of Percy Wenrich music in San Jose, California, for generously providing access to his materials.
Auto Race was published by McKinley Music Co., Chicago & New York, USA.
A tempo of 150 crotchets/min. is suggested.
There is also a tenor solo version of this item.
