I was always a great Monty Sunshine fan and one of my most prized possessions is an LP (NJT 500) "Chris Barber Plays The Music of Clarence Williams (also generally credited as co-composer) and Spencer Williams". On it can be heard a fantastic version of "Wild Cat Blues" played by Monty Sunshine and for my taste Monty's version is the definitive, better even than Sidney Bechet himself (as heard on Riverside RLP 149 and recorded in 1947).
"Wildcat Blues (1923)" has been recorded by:
Various Artists on "That Devilin' Tune" CD(s) & MP3 Album(s)
Fats Waller on "Low Down Papa" CD(s) & MP3 Album(s)
Sydney Bechet on "The Creole Prodigy"
Paris Washboard on "Wild Cat Blues"
Sydney Bechet on "Les Oignons"
