Snowball is a dashing rag and is perhaps Nellie Stokes best known composition. Its form is ABBACCBB with a 4-bar introduction. The keys used are C and F-major for the ABBA- and CCBB-strains respectively. Treble players will especially enjoy this transcription for recorder sextet as the said voice has every note of the melodies from start to finish - something to really get into. Appropriately the cover of the original sheet music shows a seasonally dressed miss with a huge fur muff astride a monster snowball - how she maintains her balance is not revealed.
Snowball was published by Jerome H. Remick & Co., New York & Detroit, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
