Length: approx. 3½ mins. Sounds best with the 1st tenor doubled.
Diamonds and Rubies is a most pleasant intermezzo. Its form is AABBACCA with a 4-bar introduction and a 4-bar coda. The keys used are Eb-, Bb and Ab-major for the A, B- and C-strains respectively. Appropriately the cover of the original sheet music is illustrated by a scantily clad demure maiden in Grecian costume dispensing the said jewels from her outstretched hands onto two huge piles of them. Diamonds and rubies are to be found aplenty in this delightful composition.
Diamonds and Rubies was published by Jerome H. Remick & Co., New York & Detroit, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
