Victory Rag, is one of the very last Scott rags to be published. A classic in AABBACCBB form whereby the A/B and C strains are in the major keys of C and F respectively. A calm, even beautiful composition which should definitely not be taken too fast. I particularly admire the bell-like effects set against tripling down runs in the A strain.
The front cover of the original sheet music displays quite appropriately the winged figure of a Greek classic Goddess of Victory hold the victor's laurel wreath aloft. A tribute both to Scott's career and this triumphant minor masterpiece.
Victory Rag was published by Stark Music Co, St. Louis, Missouri, USA
