Hilarity Rag is a jolly, effervescent, bubbling Scott rag having a "classic" AABBCCDD form, its folksy strains being equally shared between the major flatted keys A and D. A real fun and dare it be said, a hilarious piece, which is a must for the inclusion in the repertoire of all recorder ragtime ensembles. The cover of the original sheet cover displays a lively seaside scene of young Negro couples out enjoying themselves its style being both tasteful and respecting - quite a contrast to those hideous caricatures so typical of the period. Top marks to publisher John Stark in his choice of artwork.
Hilarity Ragwas published by Stark Music Co, St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
A tempo of 90 crotchets/min. is suggested.
There are also sextet and descant solo versions of this item.
