Palm Beach is an elegant fox trot in AABBACC form with a 4-bar introduction whereby the C-strain is of 32 bars and the others of 16 bars. In this recorder adaptation the melodies are shared between the treble and the 1st tenor. The piece itself is characteristic of those catering to the high society and their social gatherings in the more exclusive resorts such Palm Beach, Florida or Long Island. This too is reflected by the cover of the original sheet music which suggests a holiday poster and shows a nattily dressed young man chatting up two refined society ladies on a sunny private beach.
Palm Beach was published by Jos. W. Stern & Co., New York, USA.
A tempo of 148 crotchets/min. is suggested.
