Length: approx. 4 mins. Sounds best with the 2nd bass doubled.
Now for something completely different after all those rousing Pryor marches. After Sunset is a much ornamented, expressive intermezzo in ABCA form with an 8-bar introduction and a 4-bar interlude between the C and A strains. In this recorder adaptation the descant voice provides pretty flourishes supporting the 1st tenor who has the main themes from start to finish. The rhythm section is also much occupied but should perform restrainedly allowing the upper voices to bring out the subdued melodies. A piece requiring a delicate touch.
After Sunset was published by Carl Fischer Music Publisher, New York, USA.
A tempo of 90 crotchets/min. is suggested.
