Teasing Rag is a refined and sensitive rag and in this transcription for recorder requires delicate tonguing especially in the upper registers. Its form is a straightforward AABBACC with a 4-bar introduction. Not an easy work on account of not only close harmony at the top of the instruments' ranges but also on the "blackness" of the score which may require doubling or making hard choices by the ensemble leader as to which notes to leave out. Are there such things as unimportant notes? All in all a very rewarding piece demanding virtuosity from its performers and no doubt much hard work.
Teasing Rag was published by Chas. A. Meyers, Chicago, Illinois, USA.
A tempo of 76 crotchets/min. is suggested.
