Length: approx. 2¾ mins.
Rooster Rag is an extraordinary composition. Fluid, elegant and polished one wishes as a ragtime enthusiast that the gifted, multi-talented Muriel Pollock had found more time for writing rags.
As an adaptation for recorder it is one of those rare pieces where each voice is fully occupied, the treble in particular will enjoy having the limelight from start to finish. The blood red cover of the original sheet music is dominated by monster rooster obviously meaning business pursuing a terrified figure of undetermined sex. What all this has to do with this beautiful piece of music is beyond the editor.
Rooster Rag was published by Jos. W. Stern & Co., New York, USA.
A tempo of 76 crotchets/min. is suggested.
There is also a treble solo version of this item.
