The International Fox Trot is a happy romp through a medley of snatches from various patriotic airs. It is also pretty good piece for exercising scales as the fox trot takes us from F to Bb and then through F, Bb, Eb, G and C before finally returning to F. It is ideal for audience participation - here one could, as a competition for give-aways, ask the listeners to identify the various countries, titles and composers. The cover of the original sheet music shows a ballroom scene whereby the elegant ladies are gowned in patriotic colours representing some of the nationalities involved. This is another great Platzmann ensemble piece for recorder players who like to play something a little different!
The International Fox Trot was published by Church, Paxson and Co, New York, USA.
A tempo of 150 crotchets/min. is suggested
