As with Niebergall's other rags, Red Rambler Rag is also a no-nonsense, straight-up-and-down, thumping rag in AABBCCA form with a 4-bar introduction whereby the A- and BC-strains are written in the major keys of F and Bb respectively. The composition celebrates the same named rose as can be seen on the red cover of the original sheet music. A splendid ensemble piece as all voices have their say. Descant players will especially enjoy not only having the melodies in the A-and B-strains but also has the pleasure of the tiddly bits in the C-strain. Great stuff indeed!
Red Rambler Rag was published by Mentel Bros. Publishing Co., Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
