I was introduced to this item by Heidi Suhrlie sometime in 1984 and it was intended to be played by the Schwanewede Recorder Consort. Somehow or other we never got round to it and it has long languished in my library unloved and un-played. As the title suggests it contains 15 16th-century German dances all of which are very easy to perform.
The dances are compositions of Elias Nikolaus Ammerbach (2 "Dantz und Proportio"s - 1571), good old Anon (2 Aufzug -1580, Tanz und Nachtanz -1580, Intrada -1593, Dantz -1595, Gagliard -1595, Tantz -1593), August Nörmiger (Polnischer Dantz -1598, Aufzug -1598, Tantz und Sprungk -1598, Mattasin -1598) and Melchior Franck (Deutscher Tanz and Galliarda both 1604).
