Length: approx. 3¼ mins.
Checkers is a typical Lincoln, no-nonsense, jolly rag in AABBACCBB form with a 4-bar introduction whereby the CC strains are in the key of F-major and the remainder in C-major. Here either the publisher, Lincoln or both clearly optimised their chances of sales in the music market by subtitling this composition as a rag, blues or fox trot - presumably by using different tempos or introducing subtle rhythmic changes. Whatever - no instructions are provided so please experiment!
Checkers was published by Vandersloot Music Pub. Co., Williamsport, Pennsylvania, USA.
A tempo of 90 crotchets/min. is suggested.
There is also a tenor solo version of this item.
