Rainbow Waltz is a gentle, lovely flowing composition with several nice touches. The editor especially admires the bass counter-melodies and little runs - such a contrast to so many other ragtime waltzes. As an adaptation for recorder sextet it is not without its difficulties, the treble, 1st tenor and 1st bass for example have to cope with the upper registers - watch out for high Gs. The syncopation is a delight and well worth the effort required in mastering its intricacies - a great ensemble piece!
A tempo of 150 crotchets/min. is suggested.
