Length: approx. 3¾ mins.
Bunch O' Blackberries, Holzmann's second cakewalk hit, was respectfully dedicated to Mr. E. C. Buchignani. It is in AABBACCBB form with a 4-bar introduction and a 4-bar interlude between the B- and C-strains whereby the AABBA- and CCBB-strains are written the major keys of C and F respectively. This is, as a transcription for recorder, a splendid piece for treble players. The pleasant flowing melodies fairly tootle along and explore the complete range of the instrument. The other voices also have their say with some neat dialogue and close harmony and a thumping bass accompaniment. All-in-all it fully deserved its rave notices and is a great ensemble piece.
Bunch O' Blackberries was published by Feist and Frankenthaler, New York, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
