Publisher's blurb
The present book contains all the textless dances from Haussmann's "Neue artige and liebliche Täntze, zum theil mit Texten, dass man kan mit Menschlicher Stimme zu Instrumenten singen, zum theil ohne Text gesetzt" , which was first published in Nürnberg by Paul Kauffmann in 1598 and reprinted several times over the following few years.

Personal remarks
This is quite an interesting pieces of work as the dances can be performed by violins, viols, early brass, crumhorns and, indeed, recorders. They are straightforward dances which can readily be performed by beginners. We played dances no. 3 and no. 4 in The Vegesack Double Quartet under Heidi Suhrlie's elegant baton sometime about 1983-4. I can remember having an easy time of it both when playing either tenor or bass.
