Symphony For the Flutes From Orpheus Britanicus, Vol. I

Composer:Purcell  (1659-1695)
Editor:Walter Bergmann  Trio:Treble/Treble/Bass

This "Symphony for the flutes" by Henry Purcell is one of several works which I purchased in June 1983 and were intended to be used by The Schwanewede Recorder Consort. We played it a few times but never performed it publicly. It is interesting in that it is scored for two treble and bass, a somewhat unusual combination. This is fine dramatic stuff indeed very reminiscent of the funeral music for Queen Mary - but alas, much too short.
This item is printed on the same sheet as Air From the Opera Guistino by George Friederic Handel.
