This splendidly entitled march two step, Master Mechanics & Master Car Builders (abbreviated to M. M. and M. C. B) was commissioned by the Philip Carey Manufacturing Co., Cincinnati, Ohio, to commemorate a 1905 convention at Manhattan Beach in honour of P. H. Peck, President of the American Railway Master Mechanics Association, and W. P. Appleyard, President of the Master Car Builders Association. Here the composer brought off an equally splendid march fitting for such an occasion. It has an AABBACDC form with a 4-bar introduction and a 2-bar interlude between the A- and C-strains. This long overdue adaptation for a recorder ensemble provides an opportunity for recorder players to perform in a like manner before such august bodies and personalities!
Master Mechanics & Master Car Builders was published by Whitney-Warner Publishing Co., Detroit, Michigan, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
