Old Virginia Rag is a minor masterpiece in ABCD form, each section being of 16 bars, with a 4-bar introduction and a 4-bar passage between the B and C sections. Each strain is a little gem, flowing and melodious. The work is scored without repeats - an oversight?. Whatever, any or all of the sections are more than worth repeating. One may be assured that Clyde Douglass himself would not mind! As a recorder adaptation, this sonorous tenor/bass affair gives Old Virginia Rag a new charm and beauty.
Old Virginia Rag was published by Parker Music Co, New York, USA.
A tempo of 78 crotchets/min. is suggested.
There are also tenor solo and quartet versions of this item.
