Georgia Grind is a nifty composition in a quasi sonata form of AABBACCA with a reflective 4-bar introduction which doubles as a coda and a 4-bar interlude separating the CCA-strains. The AB- and C-stains are written in the major keys of C and F respectively. The cover of the original sheet music shows a happy, smiling and winking Negro dancer clad in bright patriotic colours and symbols, whether they pertain to the State of Georgia or the USA itself cannot be ascertained. Waving top hat and cane he is obviously enjoying the grind as indeed performers of this transcription for recorder sextet will also no doubt do!
Georgia Grind was published by Jos. W. Stern & Co., New York, USA.
A tempo of 150 crotchets/min. is suggested.
