Length: approx. 3 mins.
Red Rooster, beautifully illustrated on the cover of the original sheet music as a pronouncedly early bird set against a full moon, is a lively march in strict time. Its form is AABBACC with a 4-bar introduction whereby the AB- and C-strains are written in the major keys of F and Bb and have bar-lengths of 16 and 32 respectively. This piece goes well with other farmyard frolics such as Muriel Pollock's Rooster Rag (1917) and Albert Gumble's Chanticleer Rag (1910).
Red Rooster was published by H.C. Weasner & Co., Buffalo, New York, USA.
A tempo of 100 crotchets/min. is suggested.
