It is obviously just one of those things that the title on the front cover of the original sheet music is One O' Them Things! whilst the title to the score on the inside pages asks the question One O, Them Things? As it is, this piece is not only delightful to perform, it is also historically interesting being widely held to be the first published rag with a 12-bar blues section. Its form is AABBCCAA with a 4-bar introduction which is also used as an interlude between the CCAA sections. The A strains are the 12-bar blues whilst the B and C strains are each 16 bars. Yes Sir! This piece has everything cakewalk, ragtime and blues all in just 64 bars!
One O' Them Things! was published by Jos. Placht & Son, St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
A tempo of 76 crotchets/min. is suggested.
There is also a tenor solo version of this item.
