The Honey Boy is an easygoing cakewalk in AABBACCC form with a 4-bar introduction and a 16-bar interlude between the final CC strains whereby the AABB- and CC-strains are in the major keys of Bb and Eb respectively. The A- and B-strains are basically solos for the 1st voice. The following CC-strains are characterised by close harmony between the 1st and 2nd voices. The 16-bar interlude is quite dramatic and the final C-strain, an octave higher than the first, brings the whole to a triumphant conclusion.
The Honey Boy was published by R.L. Durant, Los Angeles, California, USA.
A tempo of 180 crotchets/min. is suggested.
