Length: approx. 3 mins. Sounds best if the 2nd tenor and bass are doubled.
The Incandescent Rag is, well, incandescent! A splendid Botsford rag, as syncopated as it gets with several nice touches. Its form is ABBACCB with a 4-bar introduction - here we have the ABBA strains in G-major and the CCB strains in C-major. The first tenor is called on to demonstrate his or her virtuosity in the adept and precise rendering of the heavily syncopated runs and passages. The basses too have their fun especially in the C-strain where there is some dialogue between the voices. All-in-all, a full-blown rag, just the stuff to keep a ragtime recorder ensemble on its toes!
The Incandescent Rag was published by Jerome H. Remick & Co., New York & Detroit, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
