Length: approx. 2½ mins. Sounds best if 1st tenor is doubled.
The Mascot is a straightforward bright and breezy march its form being AABBACB whereby the AABBA sections are in the key of C and the remainder in F. This is a great piece for the treble voice which carries the melody throughout, the 1st tenor providing a backing with occasional close harmony. The theme clearly derives from or is dedicated to American football as can be seen on the cover of the original sheet music. The little chap depicted representing The Mascot does not appear to be overwhelmed with the honour.
A tempo of 90 crotchets/min. is suggested.
The Mascot was published by Jerome H. Remick & Co., New York & Detroit, USA.
