According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, Tielman Susato was a German music publisher and composer; from 1525 town trumpeter in Antwerp where he died. Composed songs, dances, etc.
In Dr Schole's The Oxford Companion to Music, it can further be read that he was an interesting case of a professional music copyist turning printer in 1543. During the next 18 years he published over fifty volumes of music, most of them including something by himself. Susato published a quantity of music of the then popular Flemish school.
